Cā;
NOTE: DIET prompts for the desired rate of weight loss or gain, current weight,
caloric intake, and achieved exercise. It then provides an analysis of your
weight trend.
It assumes a reference specific metabolic rate of 13 Cal/day/lb (corresponding
to a very sedentary day.) The exercise rates of energy expenditure (premissed
on the rule of thumb of 1 Cal/kg/km for walking or jogging) have been assumed to
be 0.036 Cal/min/lb for (3 mph) walking, 0.050 Cal/min/lb est. for (12 mph)
biking, and 0.072 Cal/min/lb for (6 mph) jogging. If you have engaged in other
physical activity, you can enter the (estimated) equivalent specific caloric
consumption to one of the above, and enter the prorated time accordingly.
You will be asked whether you wish to enter information regarding the amount of
achieved daily exercise in terms of the time you spent, the calories you
expended, or the distance you moved (walking, biking, or jogging.) It is
suggested that you respond as follows:
ENTER IF
----------------- -------------------------------------------------------
Time spent..............Your exercise was limited to the indicated
activities, and you believe that you conformed
approximately to the above median speeds, or if you
wish to prorate times for other execises.
Distance moved..........Your exercise was limited to the indicated
activities, but you moved faster than the above median
speeds (otherwise, your exercise will be undervalued.)
Calories expended.......You believe that you know the caloric equivalent of
your exercise to a greater precision than will result
from the above time or distance measures.
